Final decision on satellite navigators

Almost Happened

SOMEONE WATCHING MY YOUTUBE VIDEO dedicated to the benchmark among different satellite navigators told me … so do U prefere Tom Tom at the end?

The answer is NO! In the sense that there’s not a final winner in the race. The reason is that I like Tom Tom ONE because it’s compact and very easy to use. Battery Life is good -but not great- and I can use it also walking.

I like Pagine Gialle NAV because I can search infinite PDI and people based on their surname like in any city guide. Millions of voices in the same DB is an incredible richness (Tom Tom has only thousands) Playback of Avi in DiVX: incredible! Unfotunately is veeeeery big for my needs and battery life is something that must be fixed in the next release. Moreover touch screen is not so sensible while you drive and the keyboard imput system doesen’t have everywhere the search function so … sometimes I had to scroll in a list of hundreds of voices (please let me search, I know that they are working a lot to improve everything).

I love Tom Tom 910 because you can integrate with iPod in the car, but I’m an iPod addict … unfortunately is too expensive for my pocket. Consider that Pagine Gialle NAV is a baby on the market, Tom Tom is three year up and run!

At the end the only decision I get has been to write an article on Nòva24 the last week in which I envision the best possible future (IMHO) when car navigators and online tagging (like GoogleMaps model) will converge. I decided also to NOT RENEVUE my sunbcription to Wayfinder: why do I have to pay GPRS connnection if I can have all for free in a single flash card? BUT Database that can be downloaded on demand, based on niche interests (food, motorbike, etc.) is the future for personal navigation.

2spaghi.it is thinking something like that … I hope they could have success maybe helped by some of these giants!
